FBX

A proprietary but widely supported interchange format for meshes, rigs and animation.

FBX (Filmbox) is a proprietary format owned by Autodesk and the long-standing workhorse for moving meshes, materials, skeletons and animation between 3D tools and game engines. Unity and Unreal import it natively, and so does Godot from version 4.3. Its downsides: no public specification, small differences between exporter versions, and materials that often need a quick check or rewiring after import. On Grab3D, every model comes as FBX, including the rigged variants (with their walk and run clips baked in and without leaf bones). All formats are exported from the same master file and re-imported for comparison. FBX files store textures embedded and are larger than the GLB: for High Detail models the FBX is a median 1.7 times the size of the GLB. For Unreal, the FBX is the recommended download.
