About this model
Light wooden boards with corner posts frame this square sandbox, topped by a wide rim that doubles as a bench for parents and kids. Inside, the sand is gently rippled, with a small heap, a freshly turned sand cake and a dug hollow that tell the story of an afternoon of play. The toys are a separate object: a red bucket, a yellow spade and green and blue sand moulds can be moved around or deleted to show an empty box. The low height and warm colours make it easy to drop into any backyard, park or kindergarten scene without dominating it. It also works well from an isometric camera in a city builder. Tip: give the sand a slightly higher roughness than the wood and a hint of normal detail, and it will read as soft and grainy.
