About this model
A piece of early sound history for your parlour scenes. The square honey wood cabinet has walnut mouldings, framed side panels and small turned feet. On top, a turntable with coral felt carries a record with a blank butter yellow label. A large brass horn with a rolled rim and eight subtle ribs flares out above it, held by a curved neck and a support bracket, and a crank sticks out on the right for winding. The tone arm with soundbox and needle is a separate object that swivels at its base, so you can lift it off the record or set it down when the music starts. The warm brass reacts nicely to a golden key light. It comes from the Cozy Music Kit, where it sits well beside the violin or the grand piano. Tip: spin the record slowly and add a faint crackle for instant old-time atmosphere.
