About this model
Every pirate deck needs someone at the helm, and this ship's wheel 3d model is ready for the job. The wheel measures 1.4 m across its eight turned handles, with a warm wooden rim, two inlaid brass rings dotted with rivets and a domed brass hub cap. The top spoke carries a brass ring so the helmsman always knows where straight ahead is. It turns on a brass axle sleeve in front of a rounded bearing head on a turned wooden column, which stands on a little deck plinth framed by a teal stripe and brass corner caps. The wheel is a separate object called ship-wheel_helm with its origin on the axle, so it spins around the Y axis in an animation or a steering minigame. The prop is 1.8 m tall and uses 14,104 triangles with baked 2K PBR maps. Unlike the car steering wheels on grab3d, this one belongs on a quarterdeck.
