About this model
Organic chemistry students know this box: atoms in little bins and a molecule that is never quite finished. This molecule kit 3d model shows an opened light blue carrying case with fifteen compartments of glossy atom balls in CPK colours, from charcoal carbon, white hydrogen and red oxygen to yellow sulfur, violet iodine and grey metal, each drilled with the right number of bond holes. Flexible white tubes, short lilac connectors and a tray of grey sticks complete the set. Beside the case lies a half built propanol with a C-C-C-O chain at tetrahedral angles, two empty sticks still waiting for hydrogens. The lid with its clear window is the movable object molecule-kit_lid, and turning it about 100 degrees on its hinge axis closes it. The scene is 45 cm wide and 26 cm high, with 31,490 triangles. The older Molecular Model Kit is an open lilac tray, this organic chemistry kit comes as a lidded case.
