LOD (Level of Detail)

Several versions of a model with decreasing detail that the engine swaps by camera distance.

A LOD chain stores the same object at several polycounts, for example LOD0 at full detail, LOD1 at about half, LOD2 at a quarter. The engine switches to a coarser level as the object gets smaller on screen, which saves vertex work without visible loss. Unity (LOD Group), Unreal (automatic LOD generation for static meshes) and Godot 4 (mesh LODs generated on import) all support this. Grab3D does not ship ready-made LOD chains. What you get instead: High Detail models offer a lighter GLB and FBX with roughly half the triangles and 1K textures, some Lightweight models have a light variant as well, and a few animals and creatures also exist as separate low poly models, such as the wolf and the Low Poly Wolf. Use these as a starting point, or let your engine generate the chain from the download.
