About this model
Nothing says keep your distance like this pose. The hippo stands on its short, pillar-like legs with the head thrown up and the jaws opened almost to a right angle, revealing a pink mouth, a broad tongue and long, curved ivory tusks in both jaws. The barrel-shaped body is covered in smooth, thick skin that shifts from slate grey on the back to a rosy pink on the belly, around the eyes and along the folds of the neck. Small ears and raised eyes and nostrils sit on top of the massive head, just as in the real animal. Scaled to a real adult, it dominates river, lake and safari scenes. The skin detail makes it strongest in renders, nature cinematics and close-ups, and a base for your own LODs. Tip: stand it knee-deep in water with a few ripples for a classic river confrontation.
