After methane, ethane and propane, butane is the first alkane with a real zigzag. This butane molecule 3d model shows n-butane in its stretched anti conformation. Four charcoal carbons form a chain with C-C-C angles of 112 degrees and a torsion of 180 degrees. Each inner CH2 group holds two hydrogens, one on either side of the chain plane, and both methyl ends carry three staggered ones, ten white balls in all. The chain plane is turned 35 degrees and leans back slightly, so the zigzag and the hydrogens above and below it read at once. The second carbon is mounted on a steel rod over a lilac foot. Length 19 cm, height 18 cm, 10,032 triangles. Where the Methane Molecule of the kit has a single carbon, this one opens the homologous series of chains.
Import the GLB with the glTFast package or use the FBX. 1 m in the file = 1 Unity unit.
Use the FBX. The model is built in metres. Unreal works in centimetres and converts on import, so it arrives at real size (0.18 m = 18 cm).
Drag the GLB into the FileSystem dock. Godot 4 imports it directly, with materials. The FBX works too (Godot 4.3+ imports it natively).
Open the .blend directly, or import the GLB via File › Import › glTF 2.0.
