Convert STL to GLB online
STL stores only triangles, usually in millimetres with Z pointing up. The converter scales the model to metres, turns it to Y-up as glTF requires, can compute smooth normals and writes a GLB with a neutral grey material.

How it works
- Drop one or more .stl files, binary or ASCII.
- The source is read as millimetres and Z-up. Change it if your file uses another unit or axis.
- Turn on Recompute normals for a smooth look, then convert and download the GLB.
What is kept and what to watch
- STL has no materials or UV coordinates, so the GLB gets one neutral material. Binary STL files with face colors keep them as vertex colors.
- Recompute normals smooths edges flatter than 30 degrees and keeps sharper edges sharp.
- Large scans convert, but the GLB stays large. The GLB Optimizer can reduce it afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my STL model huge or tiny after converting?
STL has no unit. Most files use millimetres, some use inches or metres. Set the source unit and the GLB gets the correct size in metres.
Why does the model lie on its side?
CAD and slicer programs mostly use Z as the up axis, glTF uses Y. The converter assumes Z-up for STL. If your file already is Y-up, set the source up axis to Y.
Can I add colors or textures?
Not in the converter. Import the GLB into Blender or another 3D program to paint or texture it.
