Only a narrow strip of the earth sees the sun vanish completely, and this solar eclipse 3d model shows why. The glowing sun stands on the right, the small grey new moon in the middle and the earth on the left, with blue ocean, green continents and tilted axis. The moon casts a translucent dark umbra cone whose tip ends just behind the earth's surface. Where it touches, a small dark spot marks totality, framed by a softly darkened penumbra, a faint light cone from the inner tangents for the partial eclipse. Two thin yellow rays run past the moon. Sun glow and both cones are separate meshes, the base is a lilac board. Length 41 cm, height 20 cm, 16,564 triangles. It mirrors the Lunar Eclipse Model, while the Sun of the planet series is a detailed single star.
Import the GLB with the glTFast package or use the FBX. 1 m in the file = 1 Unity unit.
Use the FBX. The model is built in metres. Unreal works in centimetres and converts on import, so it arrives at real size (0.20 m = 20 cm).
Drag the GLB into the FileSystem dock. Godot 4 imports it directly, with materials. The FBX works too (Godot 4.3+ imports it natively).
Open the .blend directly, or import the GLB via File › Import › glTF 2.0.
