About this model
A camshaft 3d model for an inline four engine. The steel shaft carries five 44 mm bearing journals and eight cam lobes, one exhaust and one intake lobe per cylinder. The lobes point in different directions that follow the firing order 1-3-4-2, so the egg shapes read clearly from every side. A brass timing gear with 36 teeth sits on the front end, fixed by a centre bolt and washer. Both shaft ends run in blue pillow block bearings that are bolted to a red base plate. The whole shaft with lobes and gear turns around its long axis as one rotor object, which makes it easy to animate a valve train. It pairs well with the Crankshaft and the V8 Engine from the car parts kit, which show the bottom end of an engine. Size 54.7 x 13.2 x 12.2 cm, 19,312 triangles, 2K PBR textures.
